um, i dont mean to sound hostile but are you saying that i'm a bad school principal because i'm giving them recertified ones instead of new ones?
first, i'm not a principal. i'm a student in charge of programming for a large segment of a student population at a university. we're holding a 3 on 3 basketball tournament and the shuffles are for the winning team.
second, if your principal gave you an ipod for free, would you really complain that it was a refurb?
third, apple certified shuffles should arrive in normal ipod boxes. i don't know of any way to tell the difference between a refurb and a new one (at least that was the case with my apple certified airport express)
i know i've seen these at $69 like 3-4 months ago...hopefully i can find some in the next couple weeks.

You either loved or hated the puck. If it was clean, it felt great to use. I still have them and use one on the blueberry iMac I have in the garage. I personally liked it a lot. That said, I still use the original black Pro Mouse to this day with my main setup.

From the quotes in the article, it sounds more like the Samsung spokesperson was answering a direct question. At the very least, there's nothing in the quoted text to suggest anyone "throwing down the gauntlet". I suggest that incorrect metaphors are saved for sports coverage from now on. Well all, after many months of tryign to figure out what computer to get I finally got myself a new 17incher. First, thanks to all those who helped me figure out what to do. Secondly I'd like to say that when I was driving the 60 miles hoem from the apple store wiating to open up the computer I was a little nervous that i might have gotten one that is too large for me, and I should have stuck with the 15 incher. Well now I've had the computer home fora few hours, and must say... I absolutely positively made the right choice size wise. This computer is somethign I need for traveling, so its small form make it an easy companion for trips, and I don't need it on a plane so much, so that's fine. Right now I'm playing puzzle pirates writing this and watchign a movie n small mode, and can see most everything. For anyone trying to decide between a 15 ich and a 17 inch, relaly the real estate space on the 17 inch is to die for. I didn't think it'd matter that much to me, but coming from an old 15inch apple flat panle to this, well there's just no comparison. Everything is so nice and open, not cramped at all. Also I'd liek to say that this screen is gorgeous, and whiel I haven't watched a movie on full screen mode, I can't wait to see how it does. I suppose that's all i have for now. Feel free to ask me questions, as I'd love to answer them. I'm so incredibly happy with my computer right now that I don't wanna go to sleep, and would rather tinker around with it all night. Anyway like i said, if you've got questions jsut ask.

When they made the switch into a for-profit money making business, I said this was a possibility... that they may go overboard in the revenue boosting side, at the expense of the clients.
It's a path that many businesses take, unless they follow the customer first model instead. Which doesn't make the investors as happy, but it does help keep a happy client base growing.
The ads are everywhere because they're trying to squeeze every penny out they can.
And it CAN get worse, think along the bank and cable company models.
There's a lot of money that they haven't even started going after yet -- a $1-10 a month here, there, and everywhere.

I second Little Machines, it literally took me about 10 minutes to transfer everything perfectly. All attachments, etc. It also kept the organization of my messages (by folder), which was important for me.
It also transfers contacts and tasks very well. One good thing it does for contacts is append the category to the note text. Then when you import into Apple Address Book, you can do a quick find on the category name, and create a group for them. I thought I was going to have to manually re-categorize, but Little Machines saved my life!!!

The iMac uses a desktop CPU while the Samsung uses a mobile CPU.
But the i7 2630qm beats the i3 2100 CPU in the iMac by a wide margin. In a passmark benchmark the is scores over 6,000 compared to the i3 which scores almost 4,000.

Ok just got back from my first Macworld experience.
It was not really what I expected. Just hundreds of booths with software and iPhone cases.
It was a fun thing to do and I will go again but I think I would have had more fun going to presentations and the keynote.
I did get to see a sketch up demonstration at the Google booth and that was probably the best thing I did.
I did not get that much free stuff probably because we did not look like we were actually there to purchase stuff.
I felt like we did not get treated fairly at the booths because we are in High School. We might not be looking for products for our company but we are still interested and probably know just as much about Macs as everyone else.

Suggestion:
Download the free CarbonCopyCloner from bombich.com.
Take a few mins and set it up.
It will create BOOTABLE backups in POFF (plain ol' finder format).
In a moment of extreme need, you will find out why this is a better way to backup your data....

I'm not willing to install Flash for this, sorry.
When you have Flash installed and ClickToFlash, Flash object will not be executed unless clicked on, thus Flash takes no CPU cycles unless needed.
